Artist Statement
I grew up in a home where artworks were born through the work of hands.
My father was a sculptor. My mother was a painter.
I learned early that every form requires time.
I still work that way today.
First I build. Then I listen. Finally, I photograph.
Every image begins with a relationship.
Between memory and matter. Between memory and presence. Between light and silence. Between what I know and what continues to surprise me.
Photography is not the starting point of my work. It is the moment when what I have built chooses to reveal itself.
I slowly create the conditions for something to happen.
Between myself and the scene I place a sheet of glass marked with brushstrokes of paint. It is not a formal device. It is a reminder that every gaze is inevitably shaped by its own history. Mine included.
Every composition is real. Every object exists. Every gesture leaves a trace.
Light enters the process as a final gesture. It never fully obeys my intention. It is within that margin of unpredictability that I continue to recognize photography.
Each work is the result of a relationship carefully constructed.
Photography arrives when presence chooses to reveal itself.
